The Judge now sits on the throne

The Judge now sits on the throne,
Reviewing the records of each that has confessed in Him to believe
Seeking to see, is that what in the life was shown?
Is this one that should eternal life receive?

Will heaven be a joy to them, or will they yet do wickedly?
Such are the thoughts that arise as He each name passes by
Record after record pass, so many He passes by mournfully
Then I wonder what will it be like when my record is examined on high?

With me shall the Saviour think of the travail of His soul and be satisfied?
Shall He be able to say, "by My blood, My Father, by My blood the sinner is covered"?
Or shall it be that for me in vain He died?
Oh that it be not so! When the King holds out a rich robe, why should I yet in my garments be covered?

Today while probation is open, today while mercy still pleads
The Saviour says, consider oh child what shall be of your endeavors?
Shall eternal life be the reward of your deeds? Will they speak in your favour?
Would it be with joy that you would present them to Him that each motive reads?

"Perilous is the condition of those who, growing weary of their watch, turn to the attractions of the world."
It may be "while the man of business is absorbed in the pursuit of gain,"
While the pleasure lover is seeking the indulgences of the world
"while the daughter of fashion is arranging her adornments"

"It may be in that hour the Judge of all the earth will pronounce the sentence:
"“Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.”"
Oh that it be not so with us, oh rather may we before Him find acceptance
Being found in Him with His righteousness, lacking nothing.
