As to the clouds I looked

As to the clouds I looked,
And thought what words from them could be drawn
I considered the sun which now had set,
For which we shall wait till the coming dawn

And saw the sun gracing the heaven with his last rays
And it's setting shades could yet be seen
At the sight I looked, and took in its beauty
Considering, a lesson I drew from the scene

Looking I saw little glory was to be seen in them
Without the sun the clouds dark did appear
Yea for now they busk not in the sun's rays
And were it not for the stars, they could from sight disappear

So I saw it is with us, no glory have we of ourselves
Yea naturally evil within us does reside
Without the LORD darkness is all that we can offer
We can only enlighten as we in the Sun of Righteousness abide
